Beach Hazards and High Surf Alert Issued for West Coast Shorelines

The National Weather Service has issued a beach hazards statement for several regions along the West Coast, including the Bay Area shorelines and parts of the Oregon coast. This alert, effective from Sunday to Tuesday, warns of potentially dangerous conditions due to high surf and strong rip currents.

In the Bay Area, the statement specifically mentions the increased risk of sneaker waves and rip currents that could pose significant threats to beachgoers. Authorities advise avoiding water activities and staying well back from the surf zone. Similarly, the Oregon coast, particularly the south-central and Curry County areas, is expected to experience hazardous beach conditions on Monday and Tuesday.

Further south, the Sacramento and Modesto regions are also on alert as high surf advisories extend along the California coast. Local officials are urging residents and visitors to heed the warnings and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during this period of heightened risk.
