Body of Missing Atlanta Teacher Gary Jones Found in Lake Oconee
The body of Gary Jones, a 38-year-old teacher from Westminster Schools in Atlanta, was discovered in Lake Oconee, Georgia, after a month-long search. Jones had been missing since May 13, the same day his fiancée, 36-year-old Danielle Yarlett, was found dead in their home. The Greene County Sheriff's Office confirmed the recovery of Jones' body on June 14.
The search for Jones involved multiple agencies, including the Wisconsin-based nonprofit, Bruce's Legacy, which specializes in finding missing persons. Using advanced sonar technology, the group located Jones' body, which was then retrieved by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
The circumstances surrounding the deaths of Jones and Yarlett remain under investigation. Authorities have not released the cause of Yarlett's death, and the connection between the two incidents is still unclear. The community and Jones' family have expressed gratitude towards the efforts of Bruce's Legacy and other involved agencies.
