California Volunteers Launches Recruitment for 10,000 Paid Service Corps Members

California Volunteers has initiated a statewide campaign to recruit 10,000 members for the California Service Corps, emphasizing roles in critical sectors such as education, emergency response, and leadership development. The initiative, dubbed 'California is Calling,' aims to address the state's urgent needs by engaging young adults in meaningful service opportunities.

The program offers paid positions, targeting individuals interested in becoming first responders, teachers, and community leaders. This move is seen as a strategic effort to bolster the state's workforce in key areas while providing valuable experience and training to participants.

Josh Fryday, Chief Service Officer for California Volunteers, highlighted the importance of the program, stating, 'This is a unique opportunity for young Californians to serve their communities and gain skills that will benefit them throughout their careers.' The recruitment drive is part of a broader initiative to enhance community resilience and address critical service gaps across the state.

The California Service Corps includes programs like the California Climate Action Corps, which focuses on environmental stewardship, and the AmeriCorps, which offers diverse service opportunities. The initiative not only aims to improve public services but also to foster a culture of service and civic engagement among young people.
