Could Kelli Ferrell’s Financial Struggles Spell Trouble for Her Atlanta Restaurant?

The drama surrounding Kelli Ferrell, a prominent star from "Real Housewives of Atlanta," has taken a financial turn as she faces accusations of owing a staggering six-figure sum in unpaid rent for her restaurant, Nana’s Chicken-N-Waffles. This situation emerges just months after her debut on the reality series, raising questions about her business acumen and the impact of her contentious divorce.

According to court documents obtained by In Touch, the landlord of the establishment filed a lawsuit against Kelli on March 26, 2025. The lawsuit alleges that Kelli has breached her lease agreement by not securing necessary permits, failing to commence tenant improvements, and neglecting to open the restaurant for public business. Significantly, these allegations are coupled with claims of missed rental payments.

The lawsuit details that Kelli, 39, owes more than $101,000 in unpaid rent, interest, and late fees. Furthermore, the landlord is demanding an additional $13,453 for future rent due until the lease's expiration in 2029. This business upheaval comes in the wake of Ferrell’s recent divorce from her ex-husband, Chuvalo Ferrell, which has reportedly strained her financial situation significantly.

A representative for Kelli responded to the allegations, suggesting that the financial turmoil stems not only from the restaurant venture but also from unresolved matters linked to her divorce. The rep explained, “Although Kelli’s divorce has been finalized, there is still a lot of gray area left, especially with finances,” implying that her ex is behind on mandated support payments.

Kelli has already managed substantial financial burdens, including legal fees amounting to nearly $160,000 incurred during her divorce proceedings. These mounting pressures seem to have led her to a challenging crossroads in terms of business and personal finances.

In light of these developments, it is noteworthy that Kelli’s entrepreneurial spirit has been a hallmark of her career for over eight years. However, as she states, the contentious nature of her marriage dissolution adds complexities that may affect her business ambitions. According to Kelli's rep, negotiations with the landlords are currently taking place, expressing confidence that Nana’s in Sandy Springs will open its doors by summer.

Kelli's legal battles over custody of her three children from the marriage add another layer to her story. The custody arrangement, which grants her primary custody despite ongoing disputes, shows that instability in her personal life could directly impact her business ventures.
